For generations, slate mining was deeply interwoven with peoples‘  lives in this remote part of Wales. Layered and fragmented like the stone, the film presents a reality that was both hard and fragile. The filmmaker, a stone mason by first profession, searches for the lines and undercurrent seams that the material has formed in the identity of the workers and former miners.
